The Checkered Giant is a large germen breed. Its has a black or blue spotted coat. Created by cross breeding a Flemish Giant a no longer recognized breed known as the Checkered Lop. The breed came to America in 1910 and has since been developed into its own distinct subspecies easily identified from its european ancestor.
